Accessorize Your Garden We all know the point of having a garden is to enjoy the beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables that come out of it, but shouldn’t your garden look great at the same time? Adding a few cute garden accessories can make a big difference in the way your garden looks.

As you think about sprucing up your garden, you might want to start with items that are useful as well as ornamental. Consider a weathervane decorated with a hummingbird, or a rooster with a built-in rain gauge. These items help you know what’s going on in your garden while improving the look of your garden.

Add Some Planters

Another great way to add interest to a garden, especially a new flowerbed or plot where larger plants haven’t established themselves yet, is to include plants in planters. You can find planters of all shapes, sizes and materials to suit the rest of your design perfectly. When the flowerbed is more established, just move the containers elsewhere.

If you enjoy being in the yard in the evening or have planted a night garden, you’ll probably want to buy some lanterns to decorate your space. There are many great metal lanterns you can buy that will make your light stable. Just put a candle inside, light it and enjoy.

Sculptures are very popular in gardens these days. No matter your taste, it should be easy for you to find a stone or metal something that you will love to have in your garden. From traditional styles to Eastern influenced art, animals to angels, you won’t have any trouble finding a few little gems to tuck around your garden. Place them in unexpected places to surprise visitors to your garden.

If there is a wall near your garden, why not jazz it up with a wall plaque? These, too, come in all sorts of designs, from simple welcome signs to representations of the sun, moon and weather to guardian angels and mythical figures. This little touch can add some interest to what would otherwise be a blank wall.

Work With Decorative Borders

Speaking of boundaries, if your garden doesn’t have a lot of definition and seems just to spill into the yard, consider adding some decorative borders around your garden. There will be no doubt where the garden ends and the yard begins, and you’ll be adding yet another decorative element.

Bird feeders and birdbaths are welcome additions to almost any garden or backyard. It is fun to see the different kinds of birds that will turn up in your yard if you provide an incentive.

Don’t forget a comfortable place for you to sit as well. Perhaps a garden bench, swing or even a hammock could be placed somewhere in the back yard so that you can admire your handiwork and rest from a long day in the garden.

Accessorizing your garden has a lot to do with your own personal style. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. You can even have your own sculpture garden that doesn’t include a lot of plants but goes brilliantly with all of your favorite [garden] accessories.
