Do you have any ideas on watering a garden 100 ft x 100 ft?

Our family is taking on a piece of land that is 100 x 100. We have two water sources. We were thinking about putting a connected PVC pipe that is about 100 ft long with holes at the end of the row. Do you think that that will work? Any other ideas on watering such a big garden?
We are planting a garden as my question said...Veggies, corn, etc...

landscapeliving answers:

What you are suggesting is called flood irrigation, and it uses a lot of water and it is not very even. Which if you are in the city or have to pump it, the cost will be amazing.
When I was a kid, we had this little water tractor, it ran off the hose, and followed the hose, it had a rotary sprayer on top. The the garden plants got taller it didn't work that good if you didn't plan your plants for it.
Another idea, might be to set up sprinkler heads on a raised PVC grid. It would save a lot on the water, and give you better control over its application.
Another method might be soaker hoses and use a water manifold to control which hose is on.
Also a drip system.
My dad still gardens every year, but he waters from the irrigation ditch now.

Ideas for a Water Barrel and a Garden?

Well me and my classmates are doing a project and we need to come up with a way to use a water barrel.

landscapeliving answers:

Overgrowing out of it like an ivy or something that has colorful flowers. If you go with the colorful flowers maybe paint the two straps around the barrel a similar color. Good Luck!!!

David asks…

any ideas on how to use my washer's rinse water to water my garden?

landscapeliving answers:

We bought a large diameter clear plastic tubing that fit the end of the washer outlet hose.... About two inches diameter, I think...you measure, I'[m not remembering..... Then attached it with a hose clamp to the hooked shaped outlet hose from the washer.... We got enuff to run it out the kitchen window and then to a plastic 'kiddie pool' in the backyard.....from there, you can carry buckets full to plants or .... Have a pump (sump pump or fountain/pond pump) hooked up to a garden hose and set the end of the hose to the garden plants....

Note.... The use of this water, gray water, is not allowed in some places because of the bacteria content of the water..... So be sure about whether you'll get in trouble if you do this..... We did it one year and then found that it's not allowed here in NC.... Dangit....

If you do this, too, you MUST use the water immediately... It cannot be stored or allowed to stand for long... Like I said, there's bacteria in there.... And it will grow and get RANK!!....and, I'd not use this gray water on food plants!!... Only on flowers and shrubs and trees.....if you use a good gentle soap, you can use the wash water, too.... Just none with bleach or a strong one like TIDE or anything that's antibacterial... And no borax!!!....

Don't forget to keep a five gallon bucket in the shower and catch the water that runs before the water gets hot!!!... Use that on your food plants in the garden!!.... Same with the kitchen sink water, saved in a smaller container, like a milk jug.....

Does anybody know if there is a way to reuse waste bathroom water ie shower water for garden uses?

I want to reuse all this water any ideas. However i dont want to kill my plants with Loreal. They are really not "worth it".
I know how i will collect the water. Its just a way to prepare the water for using on the garden.

landscapeliving answers:

Divert a pipe off of your down pipe, into a water butt. Get a pair of old tights or something similar, fill them up with horse manure, drop it into your water butt, leave it for a week or so..hey presto liquid fertiliser.
